Senapati, March 21 2024:
United Naga Council (UNC) on Thursday appealed for sanity in response to SAPO and AYO's 'quit notice' issued to the Mao community.
In a press release, the UNC stated that the untold sufferings and pains, as well as mental trauma, being caused as a result of the quit notice served to the Mao community by SAPO and AYO is something that needs to be addressed with nobler mind and sanity.
It continued, "Land dispute is a common phenomenon everywhereas every Naga village shares a traditional village boundary with more than one village.
While taking the exacerbation of the situation into consideration and sensing the impending danger of the deep divide amongst consanguine, the.United Naga Council with all humility appeals both the communities to rein in from further escalation of pandemonium, mistrust and violence but rather embrace the tenet of peace, love and forgiveness".
The release also recalled that the Mao Council had responded promptly to the ultimatum by restoring the rest house, lifting CrPc 144 and relocating security personnel from the disputed area.
Through media outlet, it is learned that a team of TPO had inspected the area and confirmed fulfilment of the ultimatum as a step towards peaceful resolution and restoration of peace and tranquillity between the two kindred tribes, the UNC added.
The council then appealed to SAPO and MC to extend fullest cooperation to TPO in the process of justice dispensation and honour its verdict pronouncement as per the Naga Customary Law.
