Polling stations inspected, training conducted for polling personnel, DLMT/ALMT

Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Krishna Kumar, IAS along with Superintendent of Police, Jiribam A Ghanashyam Sharma, IPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Th Manoranjan Singh, MCS and ZEO, Jiribam Thoudam Amurashi Chanu, MES conducted an inspection of polling stations in the district today ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha Election.
Speaking to media persons during the inspection, the DC said that the inspection was conducted following direction of the ECI and CEO Manipur.
So far, physical inspection of around 9-10 polling stations were conducted.
While visiting, the DC said, his team is also checking the assured minimum facilities like provision of ramps for PWD voters, electricity, toilets and conditions of rooms where the votes will be casted.
He added that the team also interacted with all concerned officials like the BDOs and headmasters and principals of schools and further sought cooperation of all concerned for the smooth conduct of the election.
Meanwhile in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a training programme for District and Assembly Level Master Trainers (DLMT and ALMT) was organised at Pherzawl today.
District Election Officer/DC of Pherzawl Asish Das presided over the training session attended by SDOs and SDCs of the district.
The DLMT/ALMT training covered important topics including roles and responsibilities of Presiding Officers and Polling Officers, activity flowchart for dispersal day, collection of polling materials, setting up of polling stations and procedure for conducting Mock Polls.
Hands-on training on Electronic Voting Machines (EVM)/Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) and Mock Polls was also conducted during the training to equip trainees with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively oversee the electoral process.
Separately, the first round of training for polling personnel were conducted at the Multi Purpose Hall, Mini Secretariat, Tamenglong Headquarter today in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha General Election 2024.Altogether 300 polling personnel were notified by the District Election Officer Tamenglong to attend the training session for the smooth functioning of the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Master trainer HL Christian Home, MCS, SDO Tamenglong, Meijuanthuiliu Kamei AI, Thuanjeiliu Riamei AI, David J Kamei, Assistant Professor and Ninglu Associate Professor conducted the training program in three different sessions.
The first round of training sessions for the male and female polling personnel will continue till March 23 .
