Imphal, November 02 2023:
Accusing the double engine BJP Government of engaging in double standard politics, the bloc of 10 political parties has asked the Centre and the State Government to work out a room for the Kukis and Meeteis to sit across the table and talk to end the conflict.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club today, secretary of CPI (M) Manipur State Council Kshetrimayum Santa said that the Government at the Centre and the State haven't put in any effort for the parties in conflict to negotiate and resolve the issue.
The bloc of 10 parties has been urging the Government to appoint an interlocutor so that the Meeteis and Kukis can hold talks and end the internecine conflict, Santa said and rued that the Government, however, hasn't even considered their suggestion.
Does this conflict benefit the Government or are they waiting for the Centre to send relief funds, the Left leader asked.
Saying that the Opposition parties will take up action for the Meeteis and Kukis to hold talks if there is no positive response from the Government, Santa again urged the Government to provide a room for the parties in conflict to end the conflict through negotiation.
Strike the iron while it is hot because the conflict won't end on its own, he advised and urged the Government to refrain from engaging in double standard work.
The State will head into complete anarchy with even children taking up arms if the conflict gets prolonged, the Left leader cautioned.
Vice president of Shiv Sena (UBT), State unit Laithangbam Shyam said that the BJP Government has failed in every aspect, mostly in administration.
No sincere effort is seen from the Government to bring lasting peace in Manipur, he said.
CBI has arrested six accused in the case pertaining to the murder of Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi but the bodies are nowhere to be found till today, Shyam continued and asked what is it that prevents CBI from tracing the bodies of the students.
Manipur needs a leader who is bold and adept in administration, he said and asserted that there won't be normalcy as long as the State leaders are concerned only about securing their chairs and want to be in the good books of the Central leadership.
The press conference was jointly organised by the State units of AAP, AIFB, AITC, CPI, CPI (M), INC, JDU, NCP, RSP, SS (UBT) .
