Special Judge, National Investigation Agency (NIA), Manipur on October 30 has allowed the judicial interrogation of Seiminlun Gangte, alleged mastermind behind the Kwakta IED blast on June 21, inside Tihar Jail, New Delhi campus where he is currently lodged.
The Cril Misc petition in this regard was filed by Chief Investigating officer (CIO), NIA Branch Office Imphal.
On October 30, the Special PP, NIA submitted that on June 23, The Cril Misc was filed on behalf of the NIA praying for granting of permission to conduct judicial interrogation of Seiminlun Gangte, s/o (L) Paokhokhai Gangte of Phaikholum J Muntha, Churachandpur.
During the investigation, two other accused persons, namely, Md Noor Hussain alias Tomba and Md Islauddin Khan were arrested on October 16 and 19 respectively from Badripar Part 4, Silchar, Cachar and from Kwakta.
Both of them are currently lodged in Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa.
During the examination of the two accused persons, it was revealed that Seiminlun Gangte was involved in the IED blast in terms of planning, reconnaissance, recruitment and execution of the blast.
Praying to the Court to grant permission for judicial interrogation of Seiminlun Gangte inside Tihar Jail campus, special PP also appealed the Court to direct SP Tihar Jail, New Delhi to facilitate the same.
Court after hearing the submission of Special PP, CIO of the case and on perusal of the material on record, granted permission to interrogate Seiminlun Gangte inside the campus of Tihar Jail and also directed the SP of Tihar Jail to make necessary arrangements for the examination of the accused.
