ANTA appeals against creating fear psychosis

Anal Naga Tang-pi (ANTA), Chandel has appealed to the authority concerned not to create fear psychosis among innocent public.
In a release, ANTA president Phamhring Sengul said that in yet another incident right after the incident of looting four Anal youths near Slopeland area when they were returning home after donating blood for a seriously ill man at ILDS Hospital, Imphal on October 30, another incident of psychological torture and beating happened at Kakching Lamkhai around 9:30 am on Wednesday.
The victim this time is Tongsin Stabbih (36), son of Tongsin Pume of Khuwringkhu village, Chandel town.
As per his account, Tongsin was returning home along with his father-in-law Sorokhaibam Chaoba Singh, who is a serviceman of 8th MR, Leikun, Chandel from Imphal on a two-wheeler.
On reaching Kakching Lamkhai, some volunteers stopped them around 9:30 am on Wednesday for checking.
Then they were taken to the forest beat office nearby, afterwards Stabbin was told to bend and beaten up with stick several times.
Mentioning that Stabbin runs a small pan kiosk near the 8th MR campus to support his family, ANTA continued that at the time of checking, he was found to have been carrying small quantity of betel leaf, areca nuts, Shikhar, Talab, etc., in two polythene bags worth around Rs 18,000 .
The volunteers also took a video footage of Stabbin for evidence alleging that he was selling illegal tobacco products.
Then they demanded a fine of Rs 5000.but as they could not pay the money they were let go by the volunteers, it stated.
ANTA also said that on reaching home, Stabbin collected the amount from his family members and went back to Kakching Lamkhai hoping he could exchange that with the goods he had left there but he was told that it was already destroyed.
He then went to the District Hospital, Chandel for receiving treatment for the bruises because of the beating and also filed an FIR at the Chandel police station, it added.
ANTA conveyed that in this regard, it had sought appointment with the volunteers concerned so as to bring an amicable settlement at the earliest, but to their dismay, no response has come forth so far.
