Imphal, November 02 2023:
Refuting the allegations levelled against the state government, particularly Manipur Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) regarding the recommendation letter for some NGOs for a project proposed to the union ministry of tribal affairs, KVIB Manipur has issued a clarification terming the allegations circulated on social media as unfounded and malicious.
In a statement, KVIB said that the project was meant for people living in all the 16 districts of the state.
Since the DPR required a recommendation from the chief minister, KVIB sought the same from the CM.
Unfortunately, without digesting or understanding the contents of the project proposal, which has not been sanctioned, Kuki Inpi and ITLF issued press statements accusing the state government of misusing tribal development fund and circulated the same.
It is unfortunate that the two tribal bodies see everything done by the government as anti-tribal without understanding the developmental and welfare scheme taken up by the state government under the leadership of the chief minister, the statement said, adding that KVIB is not for the valley only but for the whole state and there are many tribal officers in the board.
On the other hand, another list of NGOs recommended by the board to the ministry of tribal affairs also went viral with the allegation of misusing tribal development fund by valley-based NGOs.
Clarifying on the allegation and list of NGOs, the statement of KVIB pointed out that only NGOs eligible as per the guidelines of the ministry are allowed for the project and the board simply recommended the eligible NGOs.
Besides, there is no guarantee that every proposal sent to the ministry will be approved and sanctioned.
Considering all these facts, there is no question of either the government or the NGOs misusing tribal development fund, the statement said.
It further informed that the DPR was recommended by the chief minister and the list of recommended NGOs was sent by the board.
Both the recommendations reached the ministry on the same day even though they were sent separately by the CM's office and the Board.
Ihe two organisations took advantage of the same day delivery and circulated the two documents with an unfounded allegation aimed at misleading the public.
One can easily understand the facts if they carefully read and digest the two documents, the statement added.
