Public meeting convened to discuss current situation of Manipur

A public meeting on the current situation of Manipur was held today at Chingu Arong Ningthou Laibung at Charangpat Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district today.
The public meeting was organised by 14 Clubs And Meira Paibi Co-Ordinating Committee of 5 Villages (Charangpat, Bengi,Thok chom, Icham Khunnou, Nepra Company) to discuss the measures to be taken up to fight against the atrocities of Kuki narco-terrorists and to urge the Government to resolve the crisis which has been going on for months causing immense pain and suffering to innocent civilians.
A number of resolutions were also taken in connection with the prevailing unrest in the State.
The public meeting was graced by social activist Maheshwor Thounaojam; Manipur University Professor Chinglen Maisnam; Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup, (AMKIL) president Nganbi Leima and a number of Meira Paibis and representatives of civil society organisations.
As a part of the programme, the attendees laid by the dignitaries paid floral tributes to the valiant souls who laid down their lives for the protection of the integrity and unity of Manipur in the course of the ongoing crisis.
A two minute silence was also observed in the honour of the martyrs and prayed that their souls may rest in peace in the Heavenly abode.
The meeting also decided unanimously to urge the Government to expedite resettlement measures of displaced people at their respective homes considering their
suffering and pain.
