STSU fumes over PMGSY sign boards

While pointing out that sign boards related to construction of the 10 km long Yaingangpokpi-Chadong road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-II have been put up without completing the work, Southern Tangkhul Students' Union (STSU) has warned that no one should do business in the name of developing the lifeline of the hill people.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Thursday, STSU president Yarchuiso Kashung said that sign boards are being displayed signifying completion of the Yaingangpokpi-Chadong road and the 15km long Kangkum to Wangli road under PMGSY Phase-II (MN 09230).Sign boards displayed for both the projects mentioned completion of the said roads in the year 2022 .
However, it was very unfortunate that both remain incomplete and even a single culvert out of 22 sanctioned under water resources development is yet to constructed, Yarchuiso Kashung said, while pointing to the possible siphoning off of huge fund by authorities and contractors.
While maintaining that no business should be done on the pretext of developing lifeline of the hill people, Yarchuiso said that the department concerned should give a response at the earliest.
He also warned that the union will launch agitation if the department concerned failed to clarify on the matter.
