Lions Club extends aid to cancer patients

Imphal, February 15 2024:
In connection with International Childhood Cancer Day 2024, a team of Lions Club of Imphal visited JNIMS Hospital and distributed medicines, snacks and drawing kits to child cancer patients, who are undergoing treatment in the hospital, on Thursday.
Singer and actor Sadananda Hamom was part of the team visiting the hospital, as special guest.
According to a statement of the club, childhood cancer is one of the eight focussed projects of Lions International, and Lions Club of Imphal has adopted it as a permanent project.
The team led by club president I.Swamikanta distributed aid materials worth around Rs 45,000 during the visit.
Sadananda Hamom encouraged the patients to be brave and told them that there are high chances of recovery from their health conditions.
He also emphasised on the need for support and encouragement from family members, relatives and society for such patients.
Club member Dr Shyamkumar Laishram said that the Childhood Cancer International is targeting to enhance the recovery rate of childhood cancer to 60 per cent by 2030 .
The club is assisting such patients in terms of alleviating their pains and suffering of their family members.
JNIMS medical superintendent professor Kh Lokeshwar and associate professor Dr Irom Anil expressed gratitude to the club for their initiatives, the statement said.
