Imphal, February 15 2024:
The Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) has cautioned all the private schools, hostels and boarding coaching centres to not give undue pressure to the students who are already suffering due to the present unrest.
In a release, AIMS expressed its gratitude to all the educational institutions that have provided free education to students who have been affected by the ongoing conflict which began on May 3 last year.
AIMS lamented that unfortunately some schools are forcing students to pay fees for some months of the year 2024 without considering the difficulties/ suffering of the students.
Alleging that some schools are even pressuring students by threatening to cut/ deduct their internal marks if they do not stay in the boarding/ hostel run by the schools, AIMS stated that such unethical conducts of some school authorities is akin to blackmail and exploiting students for business interest.
AIMS cautioned all concerned against turning education into profit making business and added that it will strictly monitor all the schools, hostels & boarding coaching centres for such unscrupulous acts/ activities to protect the rights & future of students.
Also, alleging that some private schools sign agreements with teachers occasionally to prohibit teachers from taking private tuition and open private coaching centres, AIMS cautioned all the school authorities to immediately stop such illegal acts.
AIMS further appealed to all the students to report or inform AIMS if they are facing undue pressure from the schools/hostels/boarding coaching centres without considering their present situation.
