Imphal, February 15 2024:
The bodies of village volunteers, namely, Sagolsem Loyanganba, who died in attack by Kuki militants at Pukhao Shantipur, and Okram Sanaton, who lost his life in the Pangei incident, were laid to rest on Thursday at Yumnam Patlou under Khundrakpam A/C after their bodies were claimed from JNIMS morgue.
Speaking in this regard, Okram Saratchandra, co-convenor of the JAC formed in connection with the death of Loyanganba, informed that Loyanganba was a daily wage earner from Pukhao Shantipur, which Kuki militants are attacking intermittently since last year, forcing his family as well as others to take shelter at the house of one of their relatives.
Recalling that a four-point memorandum was submitted to the CM which include demand for providing job to the family of the deceased and ex-gratia before the Mangani Leihun rituals, he said that Loyanganba's body was claimed after the CM assured of fulfilling the demands.
