Save Manipur cry rends the air

Widespread demonstrations were carried out in different areas of the valley districts today from 2 pm to 3 pm in support of People's Alliance for Peace and Progress Manipur (PAPPM) mass protest under the theme "Save Manipur, Save India" .
As part of the mass protest, the Peace and Integrity Committee Kyamgei (PICK) and All Kyamgei Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup staged a demonstration with the support of local meira paibis along the roadside of Kyamgei Pal Ahanbi.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Ch Meghachandra, convenor PICK asserted that disintegration of Manipur is akin to breaking up India.
Stating that "Kuki narco-terrorists" have indulged in destructive activities that threaten the territorial integrity of the State, Ch Meghachandra accused the "Kuki narco-terrorists" of resorting to chemical warfare, which is unheard of even in the Russia-Ukraine war.
He further accused them of destroying forests and the environment in stark contrast to the pledge taken by G20 Environment and Climate Ministers to protect ecosystems.
The PICK convenor also urged the Chief Minister to address and take concrete steps regarding the issues of NRC implementation, abrogation of SoO pact with Kuki militants and the efforts of Kuki militants to disintegrate Manipur at the upcoming Assembly session.
Calling for the removal of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Letpao Haokip as Chairman of the Cabinet sub-committee formed to check and identify illegal immigrants coming from outside, he maintained that the Minister should be replaced with a more suitable candidate from an indigenous community.
During the mass demonstration, protestors also raised various slogans including "We want peace", "Withdraw AR", "Abrogate SoO agreement with Kuki militants" etc.
Separately, Village Volunteer Force Moirang organised protests at various areas with the participation of meira paibis who shouted slogans with the tricolour in their hands.
At the mass protest in Keishamthong, Longjam Bidyarani, secretary, Keishamthong Maning Longjam Leikai Ima Yaiphabi Nupee Lup expressed anguish with the failure of the State and Central Government to resolve the conflict.
The protestors shouted slogans such as "Save Manipur, Save India", "Down down Kuki narco terrorists", "We want peace", "Remove double-standard AR", "Abrogate SoO with Kuki militants" and "Deport illegal Kuki migrants" .
Participating in the mass protest, Konung Mamang Pureiromba Khongnang Makhong Meira Paibi member Hijam Aruna highlighted the plight of the public due to the ongoing conflict and assured that meira paibis of the region will support any public agitation launched in this connection.
At Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency, meira paibis formed a human chain from Mayang Imphal Bazar to Sekmaijin in support of PAPPM's mass protest.
Meira paibis from Yumnam Huidrom and surrounding areas also formed a human chain at Thongkhong Luxmi Bazar under Wangoi AC and shouted various slogans.
Similarly, meira paibis in large numbers staged silent protests organised by Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) at Torbung, Kandangband, Singda and Naoremthong.
Meanwhile, Uripok public and meira paibis took out demonstrations in front of Cheirap Court demanding abrogation of SoO pact and flushing out Kuki militants from the soil of Manipur.
Lastly, in support of PAPPM's mass protest, meira paibis formed a human chain from Sekmai Police Station (western side) to Kanglatongbi Bazar while shouting slogans of "Long live Manipur", "Withdraw AR from the State" and "Flush out Kuki militants from Manipur" .
