Imphal, February 15 2024:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has accused the Central Government of giving moral and physical support to illegal immigrants, Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists and Kuki militants who violate the ground rules of Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact instead of safeguarding the lives and properties of bonafide citizens.
COCOMI, in a statement, also claimed that the Security Advisor to the Manipur Government and Director General of Police (DGP) have failed miserably to dispense with their duties and as such the responsibility to protect the citizens must not be entrusted to them any longer.
Saying that the fierce attack carried out by Kukis at Sugnu using 81 inch mortar shells and other sophisticated weapons is right under the nose of Central forces, COCOMI claimed that Kuki militants can't attack Sugnu without the blessings of Central forces.
The Committee went on to claim that the Central forces causing hindrance to volunteers who guard Meitei villages and allowing Kuki militants to attack the Meiteis is a testament of them taking sides.
Demanding that the Central forces who can't safeguard the civilians must be withdrawn from the State immediately, COCOMI said that the State Government should take over the charge to protect the lives and properties of the civilians.
COCOMI also demanded that the SoO pact with the Kuki militants must be abrogated and all the illegal arms and ammunition in their possession must be seized.
The SoO pact should not be renewed under any circumstances, the Committee demanded.
The whole world sees the nexus between Kuki militant groups and the Chin-Kuki narco terrorists, COCOMI maintained and added that the Government of India should not renew the SoO pact if they consider the people of Manipur as citizens of India.
Isn't it the responsibility of the Government to ensure the safety of its citizens, COCOMI asked while reiterating its demand to abrogate the SoO pact.
