Gunfight rages in Sugnu, Pukhao; BSF man injured

Imphal, February 15 2024:
Kuki militants continued attacking Sugnu and Pukhao Shantipur with bombs and other automatic weapons on Thursday.
Amidst the chaos, one BSF trooper suffered injuries after getting hit by a bullet.
According to reports from the spot, Kuki militants from Lailoiphai and Dongyang areas of Churachandpur district rained bullets and bombs at Sugnu on Thursday.
The attack which began from Wednesday came from three different directions.
The village volunteers present in the area along with state forces and BSF returned fire.
The firing continued again on Thursday, during which one BSF was struck by a bullets and left injured.
He was immediately taken to a hospital close to Sugnu.
Meanwhile, one of the bombs fired by the Kuki militants around 4am Thursday landed near the residence of one Moirangthem Radhamohon of Sugnu Awang Leikai, causing extensive damages to the house.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack.
In regard to the attack, one village volunteer conveyed that the attack which began on Wednesday continued into the night.
At about 4 am Thursday, the Kuki militants began firing several bombs in Sugnu.
The volunteer then urged the government to teach the Kuki militants befitting lesson, which would be remembered forever.
