Road block protests abduction of three men

Demanding safe release of three men who have been abducted by unknown persons who came in a car from an area located between Phubala and Naransena around 6.30pm Wednesday; the JAC formed in connection with the incident blocked vehicular movement from Tiddim road to Moirang and Kwakta, from Thursday morning.
It then cautioned of imposing an indefinite bandh if the three men were not released at the earliest.
The abducted trio has been identified as Md Alimuddin (43) s/b Md Rahimuddin of Kwakta Awang Leikai Ward No 2; Md Abdul Latif Tampakmayum (41) s/o Md Haji Abdul Latif of Kwakta Khuman Gram Panchayat Ward No 8; and Mairembam Johnson Singh (38) s/o Bobby of Moirang Mairembam.
On Thursday, a public meeting was convened at Kwakta Public Ground, where a JAC against the abduction was formed with Majibur Rahman appointed as convenor and Md Sadam Khan as co-convenor.
According to family members, the abducted men were in contact with their respective families till 6pm Wednesday.
However, after a short while, their mobile phones remained in switch-off mode and they have been not contacted since then.
Jamiat Ulama Bishnupur District secretary Sahid Maulana Allaodin Ashmi expressed extreme regret to witness the abduction of innocent Kwakta residents for ransom amidst the prevailing crisis in the state.
He continued that the Muslim community in Manipur also plays a critical role in defending the integrity of Manipur, and as such, appealed to all concerned not to torment innocent civilians, while further appealing for unconditional release of the three men.
