Ima Keithel committee submits memos to Central leaders

Imphal, June 25 2023:
After the peace protest at Jantar Mantar on June 19, a team of Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace currently at the national capital submitted separate memoranda to some Union ministers and national institutions.
The committee has so far submitted memoranda to Union transport minister, food processing minister, forest, environment and climate change minister, National Human Rights Commission, National Commission for Women and the National Green Tribunal.
In the memorandum submitted to Union minister of road transport & highways, the committee sought prompt action to bring an end to the illegal embargo (economic blockade), on the National Highways No 2 at Kangpokpi and to demolish unauthorised hoarding/gate constructed across the National Highway at Leisang village, Churachandpur distnct while urging union minister of environment and climate change to conduct survey, protect and promote environment and forest in Manipur.
The joint committee also submitted a memorandum to chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission Manav Adhikar Bhawan and urged him to despatch a team to Manipur for assessing plight of the communal clash affected people and taking up necessary actions to address their need.
The joint committee also submitted another memorandum to the National Commission for Women urging for team to study condition of female affected by the violence and take up neces -saiy measures to address their need for immediate relief and adequate rehabilitation.
In another memorandum submitted to the National Green Tribunal, it sought intervention of the tribunal to survey, protect and promote the environment and forest in Manipur.
The joint committee also met Union food processing and industries minister Pashupati Kumar Paras and apprised him about the ongoing violence in Manipur and sought his help to restore normalcy.
