Seized urea sold at subsidized rate to Wangoo farmers

The sale of a huge consignment of "Urea" fertilizers which was seized by Nambul Mapal Apunba Meira Paibi recently on June 19 night at Langthabal Lep Awang Leikai has been commenced.
Mention may be made that the truck loaded with Urea fertilizers were seized by the Meira Paibis while conducting night check of vehicles along Mayai Lambi road at Langthabal Lep Area.
The sale of the fertilizer at Government fixed subsidized rate was commenced under the aegis of Irabot Foundation Manipur (IFM), Langthabal Nambul Mapal Apunba Emas and Sarangthem Enterprizes in view of growing necessity of urea in the paddy fields.
The beneficiaries (needy buyers) were shortlisted with the help of womenfolk of Wangoo Ahallup Awang Leikai and Lamjing Meira Youth Clubs in association with the representatives of the aforementioned bodies (IFM, Meira Paibis and Sarangthem Enterprizes) .
Speaking to media persons regarding the sale of the fertilizers, IFM president Kh Gopen Luwang said that the consignment, which turned out to be unauthorized, was handed over to Singjamei police station after seizure.
Following it, a meeting was held at the office of the Director of Agriculture Department in the presence of fertilizer dealer, members of United Committee Langthabal and Meira Paibis.
During the meeting it was agreed that the fertilizer should be reached out to the needy farmers at a subsidized rate as fixed by the Government, Gopen said.
"Even as the communal clash continues, all efforts to grow food should also be given priority.
With the arrival of monsoon, farmers have started cultivation work (rice)," he noted while adding that the sale of fertilizer was done considering the requirements the farmers are facing.
Irabot Foundation Manipur always stood for the welfare of the farmers, he said while also adding that it also stands for the unity and integrity of the State.
The beneficiaries from Wangoo Ahallup Awang Leikai also expressed gratitude to the bodies for facilitating them procure fertilizer at subsidized rate.
