Imphal, June 25 2023:
Urging for relocation of the Kuki militants and civilians staying in New Lambulane area to a safer location in view of the restive situation in the state, New Checkon Women s Welfare Society Nongpok Ingkhol staged a sit-in protest on Sunday.
Speaking on the sidelines, Society secretary Huidrom Mali requested the government to relocate the Kuki militants and civilians staying in New Lambulane area to another place.
The prevailing violence has left not only the Kuki people in the area in a state of panic but also all the other communities in the locality.
The imposition of curfew in the area for over 50 days has further left the residents in difficult conditions, while no help has been received from the government in this regard.
Some have begun considering leaving the area and staying in relief camp, she stated while urging the government to withdraw the curfew at the earliest.
