Call for peace, restraint continues to pour in

Expressing grave concern over the ongoing conflict in the State, several organisations and groups have appealed to the people of Manipur to end the cycle of violence and proceed for a peaceful resolution.
Naharup Mayai Leikai Women's Welfare Association in collaboration with Naharup Youth Moral Development Association and Lamyanba Organising Center today staged a demonstration at Keithel Macha, Naharup Mayai Leikai, calling for immediate restoration of peace in Manipur.
Speaking to media persons, a protester Pinky Laishram expressed disappointment that the MLAs/ Ministers of the State have failed to bring an end to the conflict for about two months.

She also asserted that the MLAs/ Ministers who went to Delhi to meet Central leaders should not return till an amicable solution is found for the present crisis.
"The MLAs/ Ministers were elected by the people to protect Manipur", said Pinky while adding that elected representatives should come forward to handle all the problems in the State and work for the welfare of the people.
Expressing concern over the ongoing conflict which has led to irreparable loss of many innocent lives and displaced thousands of people in the State, Meitei International Civic Action Network (MICAN) has appealed to all the people of Manipur to show restraint and refrain from carrying out any acts of violence without ascertaining the truth/ facts of the matter especially during these crucial juncture.
In a release, MICAN urged all to maintain calm and show restraint to clear any misunderstandings before carrying out any acts of violence which may hurt innocent people.
Pointing out that the public has been apprehensive due to the prevailing situation in the State, MICAN also appealed to the people to be careful and not fall for the rumours/ fake news spread by some individuals/ groups with ulterior motives & vested interest.
MICAN also asserted that destroying public property because of some fake news/ rumours without finding out the truth will only be detrimental to the State.
MICAN further mentioned that it is time for all the people to set aside differences and work together with public leaders/ elected representatives to bring an end to the present conflict and protect the integrity of Manipur.
Meanwhile, displaced people from Churachandpur and Moreh who are currently taking refuge at the relief camp set up in Ideal Women's College, Akampat today offered prayers and other oblations at Shree Shree Govindajee Temple for restoration of peace & harmony in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Thongam Tilananda, representative of Thongju Kendra Relief Committee, informed that about 720 displaced from Moreh and Churachandpur are currently taking shelter at the relief camp opened in the college.
He shared that the committee under the supervision of Power, Agriculture, Forest and Environment Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh has been running the relief camp and providing shelter to hundreds of people who have been displaced by the present conflict.
He also appealed to the State Government to initiate measures to resettle the thousands of people who have been displaced by the conflict and provide necessary protections.
He further appealed to the Government to make a concerted effort to find an amicable solution and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
