10 pol parties join hands with peace call

At least 10 political parties of Manipur have agreed to work together to restore peace in Manipur during a National Convention on Peace in Manipur held today at New Delhi.
The ten parties are AAP, AIFB, AITC, CPI, CPI (M), INC, JD(U), NCP, RSP and Shiv Sena (UBT) .
Reportedly, the 10 parties unanimously resolved that sending a delegation of National political parties to Manipur to take stock of the ground situation and make recommendations to the Centre is necessary to end the violence.
The 10 parties suggested holding a solidarity day across India under the theme "Peace in Manipur" .
Those who attended the convention included former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, MPCC president K Meghachandra Singh, CPI Manipur State secretary L Thoiren Singh, CPI (M) State secretary Ksh Santa, JD (U) Manipur president Ksh Biren Singh, AITC State convenor Dr Th Inaocha, AIFB State secretary Kh Gyaneshwar, NCP Manipur president S Iboyaima Singh, Shiv Sena (UBT) State president T Devanada, AAP Manipur activity coordinator S Bankimchandra, Kangjam Manoranjan of RSP, Manipur, CPI general secretary D Raja, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh etc.
The gatherings observed silence for a minute in honour of all the people who were killed in the series of violence.
Taking to Twitter, Jairam Ramesh said that the Prime Minister is silent, the Home Minister is ineffective and the Chief Minister is non-functional while Manipur is burning.
He said that the Chief Minister should be removed, disarm all armed groups ruthlessly without any discrimination and begin the process of creating an atmosphere of trust, harmony and reconciliation for peace to be restored in Manipur.
"We live in hope that Manipur which was an example of Unity through Diversity in India is brought back to the path of normalcy at the earliest," he added.
