Uikey, CM lead in extending Christmas greetings

Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and many others have greeted the people, especially Christians on Christmas.
"Jesus Christ was the apostle of peace and preached forgiveness, compassion and love.
I congratulate the Christian missionaries for the massive expansion of educational institutions, hospitals and humanitarian services," said Governor Anusuiya Uikey in a message wishing the people of Manipur, particularly Christian brethren a very Merry Christmas 2023 .
Following the Governor, Chief Minister N Biren Singh wished the people of Manipur, a merry Christmas.
In his message to the people, N Biren Singh said Manipur is going through one of the worst phases in its history due to the ethnic conflict and called on all communities to create space for love, peace and forgiveness for healing Manipur.
"We must reach out to our friends on the other side, for they themselves are willing to reach out to us.
We must open our ears and listen to the crisis on the other side and then, we will realise that much has been lost and wasted in a momentary lapse of reason.
"We must seek and allow ourselves to overcome fear of hate mongers and work steadfastly to recreate space for our younger generations, one defined by love, peace and forgiveness," said the Chief Minister.
Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh and Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah too greeted the people of the State on Christmas.
They wished for Christmas to reign in a peaceful New Year, spread love, peace, and prosperity and teach people compassion and forgiveness.
Many organisations including All Manipur Ethnic Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) and Federation of Haomee (FoH) too wished the people on Christmas.
While wishing people, All Manipur Ethnic Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO), however, said it will forgo Christmas celebration this year due to the current conflict between the Meiteis and the Kukis.
It urged the State Government to bring a lasting peace in Manipur.
The Federation of Haomee wished the people, especially Christians a merry Christmas.
It urged people of different faiths to respect each other's religion and avoid disrupting or causing inconveniences to Christians during the Christmas celebration.
