Imphal, September 09 2023:
Shiv Sena State unit has condemned in the strongest terms the brutal crackdown on womenfolk by Assam Rifles troops in connection with a violent incident that took place at Molnoi.
Speaking to media persons at their Babupara office today, Shiv Sena State unit president M Tombi asked whether the AR troops saw the womenfolk as terrorists.
He also questioned the motive behind unleashing brute force on the womenfolk.
Assam Rifles should not take side and support one group in the ongoing conflict between the Kukis and Meiteis.
Questioning why the militants under SoO violated ground rules and attacked State security forces, M Tombi urged the Government of India to see that SoO militants strictly adhere to the ground rules.
He said that he would go to Delhi soon to submit a memorandum to Shiv Sena MPs, the President, the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
The memorandum would urge the Government of India to take a concrete decision during the forthcoming Parliament session either to ensure that the SoO ground rules are strictly complied with or the agreement is abrogated, he said.
Apart from wrongly blaming the Meiteis for starting the violence, many sacred and ancient sites deeply revered by the Meiteis have been renamed by Kukis, thereby hurting the sentiments of Meitei people to the extreme, he said.
It is a matter of grave concern that the Centre is seemingly unaware of all these disturbing developments, he decried.
Pointing out that Meiteis have been settling in Moreh since before 1940, the Shiv Sena State unit president asked why Meiteis should get permission from the Kukis for going back to Moreh.
Shiv Sena State unit has also condoled the demise of its Bishnupur district president Meisnam Ibomcha.
