Kangpokpi, September 09 2023:
In what could be termed as a turning point in the peace process after 30 years, the Kukis in Kangpokpi district decided not to hoist black flags and don black clothes on the occasion of Sahnit Ni, which is also known as Kuki Black Day on September 13 .
Several Kuki CSOs of Kangpokpi district along with intellectuals and prominent leaders had a meeting regarding observance of Sahnit Ni on September 5 at Kangpokpi DHQs under the aegis of Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association Kangpokpi District.
While accommodating more space for peace, the meeting resolved to observe September 13 as a "Prayer Day for Peace" in Kangpokpi district and avoid mass congregations like in previous years.
It also resolved that there should be no more hoisting of 'Black Flags' in every household and along the roadside like before and also avoid donning black clothes.
Lastly, all the Kukis must pray for peace as the day shall be observed as a ' Prayer Day for Peace ', the meeting resolved.
