As the MR personnel retaliated exchange of fire between the two sides lasted for around half an hour.
Speaking in this regard, Kadangband Part 1 Village Committee secretary N Bobby said that Imphal West district police are taking measures to thwart attacks by Kuki militants whereas 22 AR and Kangpokpi district police are doing nothing to prevent violence.
He also urged the security advisor to take actions against 22 AR and Kangpokpi police for their failure to thwart such attacks.
Meanwhile, suspected Kuki militants have been setting up many bunkers in Chirik Leitong and Khongnangpokpi areas despite the presence of Assam Rifles, claimed Awang Leikinthabi Peace Committee advisor Chingsubam Joykumar.
In a press meet at Awang Leikinthabi community hall on Saturday, Joykumar said that Leikinthabi has been experiencing relentless attacks from Chin-Kuki narco terrorists.
Most recently, the militants started building new bunkers in Chirik Leitong and Khongnangpokpi areas, which is has a post of the Assam Rifles.
If AR continues to act in such a way, the people's trust on the force will erode further.
Thus, he urged both the government and AR to dismantle the bunkers, and warned that in case of failure, people would have to take the matter on to their own hands.
