Imphal, September 09 2023:
All India Students Federation (AISF) general secretary Vickey Maheseri on Saturday appealed to the Government to invite all the stakeholders to the negotiation table and find a lasting solution to restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
Addressing a press conference today at Irawat Bhawan, Vickey shared that with the State struggling to return to normalcy, the Government should work with a greater sense of responsibility and urgency to find ways to reach out to the other side and initiate dialogue to resolve differences & restore peace.

"As the conflict drags on, tensions on the ground remain high and the spillover effects are spreading more rapidly", said Vickey while adding that many conflicts & wars have come to a peaceful end through negotiation.
Seeking immediate intervention of the Government, he shared that the Government should see the people as citizens of India and not only as voters, and implement various initiatives to protect their rights and restore normalcy at the earliest.
He also asserted that it is the duty of the Government to protect/ defend its citizens from either militants or any other forces and create safe and prosperous societies.
Highlighting that people of Manipur no longer feel safe in their State, he urged the Government to immediately bring all the stakeholders to the table and end the ethnic and border conflicts.
In regard to internet ban, Vickey conveyed that imposing ban on internet service will not solve the issue, rather the ban has caused a great deal of difficulties to the public, especially the students community.
All India Youth Federation (AIYF) general secretary Thirimulai Raman accused the BJP Government of mishandling the present issue and added that the Government has miserably failed to end the conflict and restore peace in Manipur even after four months.
"The Prime Minister is busy visiting foreign countries when Manipur has been burning for months.
If he really wanted to bring peace & development in the State, Manipur is just 3 hours flight from Delhi", he added.
AIYF national vice president Moirangthem Somorjit Singh, AIYF Manipur State Council vice president Kh Ramananda Singh and AISF Manipur State Council president Chittaranjan Konthoujam also took part in the conference jointly organised by AISF and AIYF Manipur State Council.
