CM urged to restore internet service in Ukhrul

Apropos the news items published in The People's Chronicle and another state daily pertaining to demand for restoration of Internet service particularly in Ukhrul district by TKS and Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL), Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah has urged CM N Biren for restoration of internet service in Ukhrul which is not affected by the current crisis in Manipur.
In a letter, MLA Muivah recalled the news item published in The People's Chronicle where TNWL urged the state government to restore the basic Internet facility in the district at the earliest as many people have left their hometown for neighbouring states in search of internet connectivity, while those staying back face immeasurable hardships.
It another report published in another daily, TKS pointed out that shutdown of internet for over 120 days has affected the economy, education and other important sectors in Ukhrul.
Moreover, the speed of the Wi-Fi services provided to government offices is unreliable and needs upgradation, it added.
In the light of this situation and given the public outcry and demand, the MLA exhorted for restoration of internet services in Ukhrul District as a special case and in the interest of public service.
