Imphal, September 09 2023:
Regretting that making statements based on personal opinions on the present crisis in the state by fact finding teams after visiting Manipur for a couple of days has become an issue of late, BJP MLA RK Imo has urged all fact-finding teams to stop expressing opinions which could destroy Manipur.
While commenting on report of the fact finding team of Editor's Guild of India (EGI) in an interview to the East Mojo, MLA Imo said that FIR was lodged against the EGI by two individuals and the government has only taken up the complaint of the duo considering that their grievance was legitimate.
He further said that a fact-finding mission's report should be based on facts and not on personal opinions as bipartisan views over the present crisis in the state is distorting the ground reality.
All those people, whether political parties, CSOs or EGI, who are here in the state for fact finding purpose should meet all relevant authorities including the general public and the government officials and collect data.
The fact finding report of the EGI was completely based on personal opinions and not on facts which is very unfortunate, the MLA said.
Further stating that there are various oversights in the report, he opined that the EGI would have been appreciated had it reported the facts and not their personal sided opinions and pointed out that the EGI report is being counter reacted from all sides.
On the means to restore peace in the state, RK Imo emphasised on seizing all arms used by any individual or groups including the armed groups under SoO.
Only when weapons are recovered and surrendered, the existing gaps between the different communities could be bridged and helpful in restore peace in the state, he said.
