Understanding reached in Y Jiten killing case

Regarding the killing of one Yengkhom Jiten (49) son of Y Ato of Kakching Chummang Leikai allegedly by Assam Rifles during Friday's protest near Leimangai Chingjin near Pallel, the JAC so formed made an understanding with the government on several terms.
Joint Action Committee against the Killing of Innocent Yengkhom Jiten by Assam Rifles met CM N Biren along with Kakching A/C MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar at CM Bunglow.
During the meeting, the JAC submitted memorandum demanding formation of judicial enquiry committee within September 11 wherein the committee probe the incident and punish 26 Assam Rifles personnel involved in the killing, providing compensation to the deceased family and government job to the family members of the deceased people.
The memorandum further demanded removal of Assam Rifles from Pallel.
In the meeting, understanding was brought after the government accepted some of the demands of the JAC including providing compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the deceased family, government job to the deceased son among others.
CM N Biren also extended a sum of Rs one lakh to the deceased family members.
After coming to an understanding, post mortem examination of the deceased person will be conducted and finally conducted the last rites.
Meanwhile, womenfolk of Kakching Chummang Leikai staged sit in protest against the killing of Yengkhom Jiten at Chummang Lairembi Mamang.
Placards inscribed with Jiten was killed by Assam Rifles', 'We condemn killing of Jiten', 'Punish the involved AR', Conduct judicial enquiry' and Stop violence in Manipur' among others.
