World Oral Health Day observance concludes

The month-long observance of World Oral Health Day on the theme "A happy mouth is...a happy body" culminated at Jubilee Hall, RIMS, Imphal on Saturday.
The event, organised by the Organising Committee of Department of Periodontology, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal, aimed to promote good oral health for overall bodily wellness.
The celebration commenced on March 20 with a Cyclothon designed to raise awareness among the general public.
Addressing the closing ceremony, RIMS director professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma commended the Dental College for its exceptional performance in orchestrating the month-long celebration of World Oral Health Day.
He applauded the entire team for their efforts in imparting knowledge and raising awareness about the significance of dental health in our lives.
Emphasising the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene, he reiterated that oral health is integral to various aspects of our lives, including eating, speaking, smiling, and overall confidence and self-esteem.
He underscored the need to prioritise oral health and accord it the same importance as other bodily health concerns.
Throughout the month-long observation, the Dental College organised dental camps at various locations, featuring demonstrations of proper brushing techniques, oral screenings, teacher training sessions, and oral awareness programs for parents.
Additionally, pamphlets related to oral hygiene were distributed to further educate the public.
The closing ceremony was also attended by RIMS Dean (academics) Prof Bro-gen Singh Akoijam, RIMS Dental College principal and Dr B Praveen Reddy.
Prizes were also awarded to students and teachers for their participation in painting competitions, quizzes, and question-and-answer filling competitions held during the month-long celebration.
The event was attended by dignitaries including RIMS deputy director (administration) RK Mecolt, RIMS CAO/FA Sairem Sarat, heads of departments, nursing officials, faculty members, students, and staff of RIMS, Imphal.
