RPI-A condemns violence, demands re-poll at 11 PSs

Republican Party of India Athawale (RPI-A), Manipur state unit has strongly condemned the forcible acts committed by armed men during the first phase of the 18th Lok Sabha held on Friday and termed these acts as lowest form of politics.
RPI-A Manipur state working president Laitonjam Haridas told media persons at the party's office, Keishampat, here, on Saturday that Manipur is a democratic state in the country but the widespread violence during the Friday's Lok Sabha election was shameful for Manipur.
It was very unfortunate that police and security forces were unable to do anything when armed men moved freely and threatened voters.
RPI-A expects re-poll at all the polling stations where armed men disrupted the polling process on Friday, he said and appealed to voters to exercise their franchise judiciously in the re-poll.
RPI-A election agent BM Sharma, who also attended the press conference, said that the party has lodged a formal complaint to the ECI for conducting re-poll at 11 polling stations where armed men disrupted the voting on Friday.
He also said that security forces remained silent when armed men captured booths, indulged in proxy voting and forced out polling agents.
