Imphal, April 20 2024:
Meira Paibis of Senjam Chirang have strongly opposed the government's order of withdrawing CRPF personnel from the fringe village while maintaining that the village is still facing attack from Kuki militants.
According to Senjam Chirang Meira Paibi leader Heikham Amrabati, first phase of the 18th Lok Sabha was conducted on Friday despite people's demand for resolving the ongoing violence first.
Just after the polls ended at 5pm on Friday, Kukis fired towards Senjam Chirang village.
Amidst such situation, the state government issued an order for removal of CRPF personnel guarding the village for utilisation in the second phase of the Lok Sabha election..
However, villagers of Senjam Chirang are against the government's order, she said adding removal of CRPF would be akin to allowing the villagers to die at the hands of armed Kuki militants.
Heikham Amrabati also told media persons that government must send replacement if the CRPF personnel currently deployed at the fringe village are to be removed compulsorily.
