Imphal, April 20 2024:
While refuting claims of booth capture at Polling Station-11 in Sugnu by armed individuals on Friday, 39-Sugnu BJP candidate and social worker Yumnam Jiban has condemned the allegations that he himself was involved in the "incident", as reported in the media.
Addressing a press meet held at his Wangoo Laipham Awang Leikai residence on Saturday, Jiban clarified that neither he was present at the alleged booth capture incident nor was there any booth capturing incidents in Sugnu AC.
He said that at the alleged time, he was casting his vote at polling station 39/35 .
However, it is extremely unfortunate that some of the local dailies mentioned his name on Saturday's publication, hinting that narrow-minded politics are being at play.
It is not only embarrassing but foolish of some people to portray the citizens' collective decision not to cast their votes for Kuki-sympathiser Congress, as a form of booth capture, he said.
He condemned the Congress MLA and party leaders in Sugnu, adding that all of this is a deliberate propaganda meant to hide Congress's zero votes in the constituency.
