Imphal, April 20 2024:
Drivers of oil and LPG tankers have intensified their cease work strike and placed a charter of demands before the Government.
From today, the drivers have stopped supplying petrol and diesel to retail outlets from Malom Oil Depot and they have also resolved to continue the protest until the Government gives a positive response to them.
The demands which the drivers have raised include providing adequate security to the drivers and making at least one CRPF personnel accompany the drivers in their respective trucks while plying along National Highways.

They also demanded that the Government must give a compensation of Rs 40 lakh to the driver's family in case he died in any attack on National Highways and Rs 14 lakh for injuries.
Notably, drivers who work for Malom Oil Depot and the LPG bottling plant at Sekmai have stopped transporting oil, LPG and other petroleum products to Manipur since April 17 after a convoy of oil and LPG tankers was attacked by heavily armed suspected Kuki militants at Kaimai along Imphal-Jiribam road (National Highway-37) on April 16 .
In the attack, two drivers sustained injuries while one LPG bullet tank truck and four oil tankers were damaged.
Many organisations have condemned the attack on drivers.
