Search Ops continue in various places

Combined teams of security forces are continu-ing to conduct search op-erations in various parts of the hill and valley districts.
So far, a total of 1095 arms, 13,702 ammunition and 250 bombs have been recovered.
After incidents of gunfight at Khoken and N Boljang lo-cated between Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts, the search operation was carried out as part of secu-rity measures to prevent repeat of similar incidents.
In Imphal West district, the operation was conducted at Karong (meitei) village, located next to Sangaithel and also at Khoken and N Boljang villages.
A combined team of Patsoi Police, Imphal West district commando, 170 Battalion C-Coy BSF and 71-C of CRPF conducted the search from 10 am Friday, in the presence of the executive magistrate concerned.
The operation continued till 12.15 pm but there were no reports of any arrests or seizure of weap-ons.
Meanwhile, Central Con-trol Room of Manipur Police informed in a statement that the situation is normal in most districts except for some sporadic incidents at some places.
District security co-ordination committee meetings are being held reg-ularly, in addition to conduct of patrolling, flag marches and cordon and search op-erations in vulnerable areas particularly in fringe areas in both hill and valley districts.
The statement said that a combined team of Bishnupur district police and 10 Bn BSF conducted a search at Tor-bung Mamang Leikai, Bish-nupur on Thursday.
Another combined team of 37 Assam Rifles and Kakching district police conducted a search at Zou Veng, T Munnom - jang, Sugnu Tribal and Serou Part-3 villages of Kakching district.
On Friday, a combined team of 37 AR and Kakch-ing district Police conducted search operation at Sokom, Nazareth and Lonpi Khunou, while another team of 77 AR, 163 Bn BSF and Kakching district police carried out search and patrolling at Se-rou Part-2 and Serou Makha Leikai.
Additionally, security measures have been taken up for movement of loaded vehicles along NH -37 from Jiribam to Imphal and empty trucks from Imphal to Ji-ribam, including providing escorts in the vulnerable sectors.
Meanwhile, a local daily based in Imphal published a news report on Friday stating that at least four Kuki militants were killed in Thursday's gunfight at Boljang village.
However, on verification of the same report with the DSP of Kang-pokpi, no such death was reported in any of the police stations of the district so far.
The press note then made an appeal to the general pub-lic to extend all possible help in bringing normalcy in the state and also to return and deposit arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or security forces immedi-ately.
