IKAL, NDF to honour Khamenlok 'martyrs'

Iramdam Kanba Apunba Lup (IKAL) will honour the nine volun-teers who were killed in the Khamenlok gun-battle on June 24 throughout the valley areas of the state.
According to IKAL advisor AK Luwang, it will organise tribute/honour event for the nine so that people could pay floral tributes during the Lanna Thouram' ritual falling on June 24.Speaking in a press con-ference at Manipur Press Club Friday, AK Luwang was formed by 14 villages under Uyumpok GP to help the dis-placed frontline villagers of Nungshum and Chanung.
Disheartened by the loss of nine precious lives in the Khamenlok gun-fight on June 13, many people from different parts of valley area expressed their wish to organise tribute events for the martyrs on their Lanna 1 houram day and according-ly the Lup decided to organ-ise the same on June 24, he said adding that IKAL will provide photos and banners to organisations organising the events at their respective localities.
According to the advisor, the Kukis must shoulder the responsibility to cease the conflict as they started the violence.
He also urged gov-ernment to declare the site where the nine volunteers were killed as protected for-est area and construct a war cemetery.
Meanwhile, paying respect to the nine volunteers who laid down their lives in the Khamenlok firing incident for upholding integrity of Manipur, Nongshum De-fence Force (NDF) prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace and shared pain and grief of bereaved families.
In a release, NDF said that Kuki-Chin terrorists have been attacking Nongshum villagers since last many years.
It also prayed for speedy recovery of those who suffered injuries in the Khamenlok incident in their attempt to flush out Kuki Chin terrorists for three days.
It also conveyed gratitude to all including CSOs and Manipur diaspora in Assam, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, China, Japan and America for helping NDF in defending their villages and expressed hope that the people will continue to help them as and when necessary.
