CM assures to clear all unauthorised bunkers

The Government has directed the authorities concerned to dismantle all unauthorised bunkers set up by both Kukis and Meeteis amid the conflict, said Chief Minister N Biren Singh, today.
The Chief Minister visited Kwakta Sericulture Farm located at Kwakta in Bishnupur district and inspected the site to build prefabricated houses for people who fled from Churachandpur due to the violence in Manipur.
Reportedly, the convoy of the Chief Minister was intercepted at different areas including at Moirang Lamkhai by a number of women who raised slogans and the Chief Minister stepped down from his vehicle and listened to the plight of the people.
Speaking to media persons, N Biren said that the Government is working constantly to address the problem being faced by over 1300 Meitei families from Churachandpur who are taking shelter at Moirang, Thanga and Kumbi Constituencies.

Saying that these displaced families would be shifted to the hostels and classrooms of Sericulture Training Institute at Kwakta until the situation normalises, he added that about 500 prefabricated houses would also be built at the campus to accommodate those who couldn't get a space at the hostels and classrooms.
He also informed that construction of prefabricated houses with two rooms and a toilet will soon be started for those people who are currently taking shelter at different relief camps in Imphal East.
The Chief Minister also listened to the grievances of the displaced folks, local volunteers and meira paibi leaders coming from Moirang, Kumbi and Thanga.
After listening to them, N Biren said that the Government has already directed the competent authorities to dismantle the bunkers which were built by crossing districts and appealed to both the parties in conflict to shun violence.
The Chief Minister also appealed to womenfolk not to obstruct the movement of security personnel by blocking roads.
Let the Central and State security forces deal with the armed miscreants, be it signatories of SoO pact or not, who have been attacking civilians, he further appealed to the people.
To a media query, N Biren said that the Government has the CCTV footage of the powerful car bomb (Scorpio) explosion which took place in between Kwakta and Phougakchao Ikhai on June 21 (Wednesday) .
He condemned the attack.
One minor and two teenagers were injured in the explosion.
