Sit-ins protest PM Modi's silence on Manipur crisis

A sit-in protest was organised by Uyal-Wangbal Apunba Meira Paibi on NH 102 at Wangbal Keithel on Friday against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the ethnic violence in the state in-spite of the crisis continuing for almost two months.
Speaking to media persons, Uyal Wangbal Meira Paibi secretary Aheibam Premila lamented that Manipur has been forgotten by India and wondered why even chief minister N Biren and BJP Manipur Pradesh A Sharda were not allowed to meet PM Modi.
The protesters chanted slogans and held placards demanding crackdown on narco- terrorism, opposing demand for separate admin-istration of Kukis, uphold-ing Manipur's territorial and emotional integrity, imple-menting NRC, withdrawing So0 agreement, including Meeteis in the ST list, restor-ing peace, etc..
Meanwhile, Peace and Re-lief Committee, Khekman organised a sit -in protest at Khekman Zilla Keithel community hall on Friday opposing narco- terrorism by Kuki militants.
During the protest which was attended by both Meetei and Meitei Pangal commu-nities, a one-minute silence was observed for peaceful rest of those who died during the ethnic conflict in the state.
Meanwhile, one Lourem-barn Sorokumar suggested that all CSOs such as CO-COMI, AMUCO, UCM, etc., and political parties join hands and mount pressure on the central government for ending the unrest situation.
