Call to end violence, restore peace continue to pour in

Expressing grave concern over the ongoing conflict in Manipur, Nongpok Ingkhol Pioneer Club has appealed to the State Government to take immediate action to bring an end to the violence and restore peace & normalcy at the earliest.
Addressing a press conference today at Manipur Press Club, Mayanglambam Somananda, general secretary Nongpok Ingkhol Pioneer Club, asserted that people of New Lambulane and nearby areas have been facing a lot of difficulties due to the imposition of curfew in New Lambulane area of Imphal East District by the Government as preventive measures.
He appealed to the Government to initiate necessary measures to help the people who have been suffering due to the prolonged curfew imposed in the New Lambulane area.
He also claimed that the present conflict is not caused by the Scheduled Tribe of Meetei/ Meitei community rather by the eviction drive carried out in the Reserved Forest Area and War on Drugs mission of the Government of Manipur.
Moreover, taking serious note of the prevailing situation in the State, Naga Welfare Association (NWA), United Communities Youth Club and Chaokhat Lamjing Meira Nupi Lup convened a joint meeting on June 21 at Youth Club Office Games Village, Zone-II .
In a release, NWA, National Game Village, Imphal informed that the joint meeting chaired by Druba, general secretary Apunba Lup Uripok Area unanimously resolved to appeal both the Meitei and Kuki communities as well as the State & Central Government to stop the violence and pave the way forward for peaceful co-existence.
NWA shared that the ongoing violence has caused fear psychosis among all the communities and forced the women, children and aged people to take shelter in various relief camps for over a month leaving behind their home to save themselves.
The association also asserted that many precious lives have been lost and thousands of people including students continue to suffer due to violence.
"With a desire for peaceful co-existence, we appeal to both the State and Central Government to end the violence and bring peace & normalcy immediately in Manipur", it concluded.
Meanwhile, seeking urgent restoration of peace & normalcy in Manipur, a 20-member team of All Manipur Panchayat Parishad left Imphal for Delhi today.
The team consisting of like-minded Zila Parishad Members and Pradhans will reportedly submit memorandums to the Prime Minister of India, Union Home Minister, Union Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, and Union Finance Minister among others to intervene and bring an end to the violence in Manipur at the earliest.
