Thoubal, June 23 2023:
In light of the mayhem prevailing in Manipur, Information Centre for Hill Areas (ICHAM) has appealed to the Central Government to find a way to restore normalcy in the strife-torn State.
ICHAM president Yuimi Horam made the appeal today during an aid distribution initiative to three relief camps set up at Keirak, Wangoo and Wangjing.
Accompanied by volunteers of ICHAM, the team also enquired after the needs of the relief camp inmates.
He urged the Indian Government to hold dialogue with Kuki militants under SoO pact and confine them to their designated camps and clamp the influx of illegal immigrants into the State.
Maintaining that peace will not return as long gun battles continue, the ICHAM president appealed to both the Kuki and Meitei community to refrain from any acts of violence.
Saying that displaced families from Moreh, Sugnu, Tangjeng and Napat have been seeking refuge in the relief camps for a prolonged period, Yuimi Horam further appealed to the Government to resettle these displaced families back to their localities and bring some semblance of normalcy back into their lives.
It may be noted that ICHAM donated an amount of Rs 50,000 each to the three relief camps aside from donating other relief materials.
