Thoubal, June 23 2023:
Condemning the prolonged silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the State crisis, Uyal-Wangbal Apunba Meira Paibi staged a sit-in protest at Wangbal Keithel along NH-102 today.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Aheibam Premila, secretary, Uyal Wangbal Meira Paibi lamented that Manipur has been disregarded by the rest of India.
Questioning the silence of the Government, she asked if Chief Minister N Biren Singh and A Sarda, president, BJP Manipur Pradesh have failed to get an appointment with the Prime Minister or if they can get an audience, why haven't they boldly put the grim issues of the State before the Prime Minister.

She went on to ask "Do the Prime Minister, Home Minister Amit Shah, A Sarda and Chief Minister N Biren Singh take the Manipur situation lightly? How many Meiteis have to die before the Prime Minister realises the gravity of the conflict?" .
Further she demanded the resignation of N Biren Singh from his office while opining that he has failed to resolve the conflict even after a month of violence.
The protestors held many placards with inscriptions such as stamp out narco-terrorism, no separate administration, uphold the territorial integrity of Manipur, implement NRC and withdraw Assam Rifles from the State etc.
Separately, Peace and Relief Committee Khekman also staged a sit-in protest at Khekman Zilla Keithel Community Hall where people from both the Meitei and Pangal community came together to protest against narco-terrorism.
The protestors also observed a minute of silence to honour the lives lost in the ongoing conflict.
