CPI takes case to Delhi

The Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council staged a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi regarding the ongoing violence in Manipur, today.
During the protest demonstration, the party urged the Government to bring forth a lasting political solution to end the conflict which, since May 3, has claimed the lives of over 100 people and displaced thousands of people and to address the grievances of the affected people.
A press release issued by CPI-MSC said that the sit-in at Jantar Mantar was attended by over 100 people including a 32-member delegate of the party (CPI-MSC) .
Some of the slogans raised at the protest site were "Stop narco-terrorism in Manipur'', "Open National-Highway 2," "Implement National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur'', "Sanction special package for the displaced people'', "Save Manipur, Save Humanity", "Eradicate poppy plantation", "No separate administration in Manipur'', "Review SoO agreement" and "Identify and deport illegal immigrants" among others.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline, comrade L Thoiren said that Manipuris are peace loving people.
Saying that the conflict in Manipur broke out after Kuki militants who engage in narco-terrorism started attacking civilians and their properties following the Tribal Solidarity March of ATSUM on May 3, Thoiren rued that the Government both at the Centre and the State, however are unable to control the situation in Manipur till today (51 days of violence) .
Asking whether the Governments also have a hand in narco-terrorism for not showing commitment to end the violence, the CPI comrade urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is currently in the United States to break his silence and solve the problem besieging the State.
Secretary of CPI Central Committee Narayana said that it is negligence of the BJP which gave birth to the deadly violence in Manipur.
He explained that the situation could have been controlled in the initial stage had Union Home Minister Amit Shah intervened on time.
The sit-in protest was also participated by CPI comrades L Sotinkumar, M Joykumar and RK Amusana among others, it added.
