KCP extends greetings on 19th Raising Day of MFL

Imphal, August 12 2023: On the occasion of 19th Raising Day of its armed wing Miyamgi Fingang Lanmi (MFL) which falls on August 13, the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) extended revolutionary greetings to all the people of Kangleipak (Manipur) and WESEA region as well as to revolutionary groups, CSOs, intellectuals and students.

MFL being raised on Patriots Day, the outfit has been observing MFL Raising Day and Patriots Day together since the past many years, a KCP statement issued by Military Affairs Committee (MAC) of MFL said.

According to the MAC statement, August 13 is a day which reminds the present generation about the supreme sacrifices made by forefathers of the land while fighting the mighty British in the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891 .

Similar to seven years devastation (Chahi Taret Khuntakpa) of 1819 to 1826, August 13, 1891 was the day the fresh buds of freedom of the people of Kangleipak was crushed and every Kanglei people regrets the day with clenched fist even today.

Every Kanglei people must remember the historic day in the right perspective and preserve it for future generation, the MAC said and maintained that Kanglei people would not have its past if they neglects their own history and there will be no future if there is no past.

Taking advantage of the occasion, MAC of MFL also shares its thought with the people for discussion and deliberation.

According to the MAC statement, Manipur/Kangleipak existed as sovereign nation from 1826 to 1891 after 'Seven Years of Devasation' from 1819-1826 and this historical fact cannot be challenged at all.

Even after the defeat in Anglo-Manipur War of 1891, Manipur.

Kangleipak was not under the part of British India though colonised by the British.

With the end of British Protectorate, Manipur/Kangleipak regained its sovereign status on August 14, 1947 .

Under the Manipur State Constitution Act, 1947, adult franchise was held on June 11 and 18, 1948 in the hills, and in the valley on July 26 and 27 the same year and the first sitting of the Manipur State Assembly was held on October 18, 1948.Taking advantage of the inability to develop own defence force, currency & coinage and external affairs, India forcibly merged Manipur/Kangleipak on October 15, 1949 .
