Seven Naga MLAs of Manipur met the Prime Minister, Manmohon Singh on Tuesday last (April 6) and submitted a memorandum urging him to expedite the political process so that the uncertainties in day-to-day life of the people would be ended.
The Naga MLAs who met the Prime Minister in New Delhi at 12 noon and had talks for 30 minutes are Morung Makunga, Dr Khasim Ruivah, Awangbou Newmai, Wungnaoshung Keishing, K Raina, Danny Shaiza and M Thohrii.
Reports received from one of the Naga MLAs informed that the Prime Minister also expressed his desire to see the Naga issue solved during his time.
In the memorandum the Naga MLAs from Manipur expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for inviting the leaders of NSCN-IM once again for continuing the Indo-Naga peace talk.
They extended their best wishes to both sides for the joint effort to bring an amicable solution to the decades-old Naga political problem, the MLAs said.
The Naga MLAs recalled the memoranda submitted to the Prime Minister by them and Naga Parliamentarians on July 13, 2007 and in August the same year.
They reaffirmed their aspiration once again that an amicable and honorable solution acceptable to both the parties should be brought about during the ongoing talk.
Being representatives of the people, they are conveying the wishes of the people who are eagerly awaiting a solution as it will enable the political process to be speeded up at the grassroot level and end uncertainties in the people's day-to-day life, the memorandum said.
