Troops of the Assam Rifles have reportedly apprehended 14 Myanmar nationals for illegal entry into Indian territory while police commandos netted three UG activists including woman from different places since April 6 .
Of the three UGs, commandos of Imphal West district apprehended two PREPAK activists from Keishampat Kangabam Leikai at around 5.45 am today.
Identifying the PREPAK duo as Elangbam Sanaton Singh (46) s/o E Gulamjat Singh of Naharup Mayai leikai and Keisham Ingocha Singh (50) s/o (L) K Tomba of Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai, a statement issued by SSP (IW) L Kailun said both disclosed to have joined the outlawed organisation in 2006 through one Tamo (48), Finance Section and worked under the command of the said individual.
Two Nokia mobile handsets and another similar gadget along with Rs 150 were seized from the possession of the two, the SSP added.
On the otherhand, the woman activist namely Mrs Ralizhar (37) w/o Audullatip of Keirang Heingangthong but at present a resident of Hatta Golapati was arrested on April 6 at around 3.30 pm as a PULF cadre, said SP (IE) Th Radheshyam Singh in a release.
Informing that five demand notes of the PULF and a small bottle containing some powder, suspected to be drugs (heroin) were recovered from Ralizhar's possession, the SP quoted the female cadre of the armed outfit to have disclosed that she had been actively involved in extortion of money from the general public, Govt officials.
In connection with the arrest of the 14 Myanmar nationals, a PRO IGAR (S) release said troops of 31 AR of 26 Sector launched operation along the international border between Border Pillar No.79 and 80 on April 6 .
Upon observing suspicious movement along the ridge near Govajang village the AR troops advanced and subsequently apprehended 10 individuals trying to cross over the international border, the PRO maintained adding that prompt interrogation led to the revelation that there were four more accomplices and two indian mentors in the illegal human trafficking racket.
further search launched in Pangal basti of Moreh town resulted in the arrest of six more persons along with 2,25,000 Burmese currency notes, the PRO statement claimed while adding that all the illegal migrants have been handed over to Moreh police station on April 7 .
