Imphal, April 08 2010:
Government is very much concerned about the security and safety of the people of Manipur and also the hardships faced by the people owing to the enactment of Armed Forces Special Power Act, 1958 (AFSPA), said Luizinho Faleiro, general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC), North East incharge while visiting the Ima Keithel (women's market) in Imphal on Thursday.

Luizinho Faleiro is in a two-day visit to Imphal since yesterday in connection with the observance of the 125th birth anniversary of Indian National Congress (INC).
On Thursday he visited the Ima Keithel which is under construction, Kangla Fort, Hiyang Hiren Temple, Govindaji Temple (oldest temple of the state).
During his visit in Ima Market he also stated that the Government is concerned about the law and order situation of Manipur and also ensured the security and safety of the people of the state.
He added that the security advisor to the Chief Minister is being appointed keeping in view of the law and order situation of the state.
On being questioned about AFSPA, he stated that it is painful that the people are facing so many problems due to this act and stated that Govt would do the best for the removal of the hardships faced by the people due to this act.
Interacting with media persons, Luizinho Faleiro stated that it is good to see such markets where the vendors are all womenfolks which show 'women empowerment in the state'.
Appreciating the State Government, he stated that such projects of constructing the all-women markets is unique not only in the country but also in the world.
Sonia Gandhi, president of AICC would be pleased to see such project during her visit to the state in future, stated Luizinho Faliero.
Sonia Gandhi is reportedly visiting the state to inaugurate the three Ima Markets, projected to be completed by next month.
