Imphal, January 16 2024:
Deeply concerned over open display of huge banners inscribed with 'Welcome to Kukiland' when the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' led by Rahul Gandhi reached Kangpokpi district on Monday, Congress leader and former Patsoi MLA Ak Mirabai has questioned what the state machineries were doing when such provocative banners having potential to create misunderstanding among different communities were displayed.
Addressing media persons at her Taobungkhok residence on Tuesday, Mirabai said the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra', which aims to bring peace, harmony and unity in the country was flagged off from Khongjom in Thoubal district with the participation of thousands of people.
On the second day, the Yatra left Sekmai and moved towards Kangpokpi and Senapati, wherein large number of people welcomed the Congress leader.
However, huge banners inscribed 'Welcome to Kukiland', purportedly to disintegrate the state and wrongly portray Rahul Gandhi's genuine efforts to foster unity and integrity through the rally, were displayed openly, she said and questioned as to why law enforcing agencies and state machineries in the district remained silent spectators to such disintegrating acts.
In reality, the state government must show that there is one and equal administration in both the hills and valley of Manipur.
It should surrender to people if unable to administer the hill areas.
The Government must also take action against state law enforcing agencies and machineries who remained silent spectators when such banners which would misunderstanding among the people were erected to show that there is law in the state, Mirabai said.
While asserting that Congress party and herself never support or commit any act which could create misunderstanding among different communities, Mirabai strongly condemned intention to wrongly portray Rahul Gandhi's genuine rally for unity and harmony.
