Kuki militants rain bullets, bombs

Imphal, January 16 2024:
Positioning themselves from the elevated Bethel village, armed Kuki militants literally rained bombs and bullets on Koutruk village, which is under Lamsang police station, on Tuesday.
According to source, Kuki militants opened random firing and unleashed bombs towards Koutruk village around noon, which state forces and village defence volunteers in the area retaliated and leading to exchange of firing till 1 pm.
The militants, who launched the attack shortly after CRPF and state forces patrolled Koutruk area, resumed the offensive around 8.30 pm resulting in another round of retaliatory firing by the security forces and village defence volunteers.
Meanwhile, villagers have condemned security forces for conducting search operations in the area which come under repeated attacks and suggested that effective measures to initiated in the areas from where attacks are launched.
On the other hand, Kuki militants fired multiple rounds towards Singda Kadangband Part-I from Geljang side around 4pm while Kadangband Part-11 came under attack around 7 pm.
The village defence volunteers retaliated the attacks by firing multiple rounds.
However, there is no report of any injury or casualty.
