Consultative workshop on social inclusion held

A one-day consultative workshop on access to information, empowerment and social inclusion was jointly organised by Department of Mass Communication, and Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CS-SEIP), Manipur University at the department on Tuesday.
CSSEIP director and MU economics department professor Dr Damodar Nepram and department of mass communication head, Dr RK Lilapati attended the programme as chief guest and president respectively.
Addressing the gathering, CSSEIP associate professor Thiyam Bharat said that many people, especially those in the interior areas, are deprived of benefits of different government schemes due to lack of information and awareness.
The consultative workshop is an initiative towards filling up the gap of information so as to bring a positive impact in the society, he said while informing that CSSEIP had organised different workshops on socio-economic condition of Meeteis, challenges faced by residents of old age homes and children homes, as well as National Education Policy among others.
Senior journalist Sobhapati Samom spoke on 'Reporting on the environment and climate change'; Department of mass communication head Dr RK Lilapati on 'media literacy and information empowerment'; and Dr Thiyam Bharat on Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and Social Interaction' as resource persons.
