NSU celebrates 6th foundation day

National Sports University (NSU), Imphal celebrated its 6th Foundation Day on Tuesday.
The event was attended by Sujata Chaturvedi, secretary (sports) MYAS as chief guest, while Akash Jha, chairman Commonwealth Youth for Sports Development and Peace, S Lokeshwor, sports promoter Manipur, Arjuna & Padmashree awardee N Kunjarani Devi, Arjuna awardee O Bembem, ex-Indian football captain, Arjuna awardee judoka L Sushila Devi, Olympian Ksh Thoiba Singh, and Olympian Chinglesana K were present as guest of honours.
The celebration commenced with a welcome address by Dr L Dibamani Singh, registrar NSU.
Officiating vice-chancellor Prof Usha S Nair unveiled the first edition of the university's newsletter "ABHYAS ".
The event continued with a felicitation of Olympians and Arjuna awardees.
Notable guests were also honoured during the event.
During the event, the university announced the initiation of academic as well as sports scholarships for deserving students at NSU and felicitated all the eligible students excelling in academics and sports.
The vice-chancellor presented the annual report, acknowledging the Ministry for its unwavering support towards the university's growth.
S Lokeshwar Singh shared insights into the historical background and significance of establishing NSU in Manipur, emphasizing the region's environmental conditions in supporting the university's inmates.
He credited the global athletes of Manipur for drawing attention to the need for NSU in the state.
Akash Jha extended greetings to NSU and praised the commendable work done by the university in promoting athletes and sports courses, including support for para-athletes.
Sujata Chaturvedi expressed her admiration for NSU's six glorious years of establishment and praised the vice-chancellor and the staff of NSU for their commendable job.
The representatives from Manipur for their contributions to the Olympics and other international sporting platforms were also mentioned in her speech.
She concluded with best wishes for the staff and students of NSU for continued growth.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Rath, director Student Welfare, expressing gratitude to all individuals involved in making the foundation day celebration a grand success.
The celebration concluded with a vibrant cultural programme and a memorable photo session, highlighting the spirit and achievements of NSU over the past six years, NSU said in a press release on Tuesday.
