Kwakta road block protests abduction

Bishnupur, January 16 2024:
Denouncing the abduction and subsequent thrashing of three people by unknown persons around 8 pm on Monday on the alleged charge of the trio's involvement in illicit business, the infuriated locals resorted to blocking of the Tiddim road at Kwakta Bazar on Tuesday.
The abducted persons are identified as MV Abdul Satar (34), son of Abdul Manal of Kwakta Municipal Council Ward No 3; Md Sakir Ahmed (32), son of Basir Ahmed of Kwakta Municipal Council Ward No 2; and Md Amir Khan (40), son of Idil Khan of Kwakta Gram Panchayat Ward No 2 .
As news of the abduction spread, angry locals blocked the Tiddim road from around 7 am on Tuesday.
However, as information was received that all three have been released, the road block was lifted and a public meeting convened at Kwakta Bazar regarding the matter.
The meeting organised by Jamiyat Ul Ulama Bishnupur District resolved that totally prohibit all illegal businesses with immediate effect and punishment of anyone involved in unlawful activities as per the law, submit memorandum to the government on the said matter, form village volunteer force at Kwakta, no detention of Meetei or Muslim from Kwakta without the permission of the Jamiyat, handing over the guilty, if any, to the law enforcement agencies, etc.
